One should give up anger, renounce pride, and overcome all fetters. Suffering never befalls him who clings not to mind and body and is detached.   (Dhammapada: Anger)
Introduction
Basic Teachings of Buddhism

Whether Buddhist or not, anyone who takes journey into the collection of Buddha’s teachings can’t help but feel a bit overwhelmed at first. It’s as if one has stepped into a maze. So it is only natural that such readers would long for a more systematic introduction, or at least a simple and clear introductory book on Buddhism.

But for all the talk about which books to read (and which not to), we mustn’t forget that the most important thing is to always have that very beginner’s mind. In fact, such a mind – one with a pure and sincere heart to break out of one’s bad habits and attain an awakening – will make reading and understanding Buddhist texts that much easier. So armed with this combination, let us now begin our fresh-faced journey into the basics of what the Buddha taught.
